Points worthy of understanding.

  • Importance of soft/loose wrists. How and why the top-hand wrist becomes 'bent' backwards.
Importance of not loading the hands prematurely.
Importance of relaxing/loosening/softening the rear side.
Importance of not starting the swing by rotating the upper torso first.

Back on the dirt...
This is a great post. Creating lag is learning to use the hands. Thank you FFS for the video.

I've always heard golf swing and the softball swing is different but I'm finding they are more similar than I previously thought.

Not here.
Lag is not a position a hitter is getting too but, a position a hitter is moving through.....Like the video says a hitter doesn't get to 'lag' and stop THEN go. A hitter wants the swing to be fluent in one motion. Flow through the swing. Lag is a pass through position.

Lag, from my perspective, is not so much a 'position', but an 'action' that is largely learned/controlled via one's tension levels. It is part of the energy flow process.
