I didn't take 'rest the bat on her shoulder/neck' as a drill but, OK. After seeing the drill you posted I understand now where you are coming from. I didn't hear the instructor mention the hands turning the barrel at all during the drill other than 'keeping the hands ahead of the elbow'. He does tell them to 'all I would have to do is turn my shoulders' Sure that may help cure 'Bat drag' that this hitters has now. I still believe this hitter would be back to square one in learning how to use her hands correctly. I only speak from experience. I had my DD doing the Deltoid drill when she was younger. Only to find out that my DD needs to re-learn the proper hitting sequence which involves using the hands to deliver the barrel to the ball.
I would be fine if that drill you posted had this example in it with laying the bat on the shoulder.
See Stanton on left :

Stanton uses his hands to turn the barrel with the bat laying on his shoulder to start.

Sounds like a guy that used to post here a lot...

WHAT????? How dare you disagree with me disagreeing with you!!!;)

Re: her shoulders - I think we're talking symantics here. Everything from the hips up is moving forward during the swing. After she starts her swing, her head moves forward a significant amount (most visible in the up close, slo-mo gif above), and that is what I was getting at.

Again, I agree that she needs a complete rebuild of her swing, and noted above that the drill I mentioned wouldn't fix all of her problems. It is a band-aid, but sometimes you need to stop the bleeding first and then move on to the next step.

Back to what I originally stated I disagreed with you on. I'm still not seeing how the drill I suggested is similar to what the girl is already doing. I had to use the google machine to find a quick video showing the drill I mentioned. Skip forward to about 2:35 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rg50QPUvPb0. Can you explain how that looks similar?

Again, I agree that this is a band-aid, and a rebuild is needed.

Yes I could see how this might help as a progression. Take away the long swing swing and do a over kill of a short stroke. Maybe a little knob to the ball even, if a dare say.

More to worry about than what you are calling 'bat drag'. Bat is being 'drag' from the front side.

The problem with a pre-stride is it can create many hick-ups. This is the complete opposite of the swing being fluid, smooth and with a rythym in the sequence. This swing is jerky and out of sequence.

I think she needs to work on using her hands without striding for now. How about she do the no-stride Braun tee drill?

I'm all for no stride. The no stride can be very effective. She just needs better sequencing of the no stride. The problem of looping might no go away with just using the hands better.

This hitter needs a complete over haul. I would put the bat against the neck and start from there. I would make her swing with the hands only for a while

She is taking a huge left turn with a straight and stiff wrist and forearm. This hitter must hit off the deltoid or against the neck as a starting point. Get her to feel the bat being torqued off her shoulder. This will work

Her front knee locks then turns. The knee should turn and extend at the same time, you see in the MLB gifs. Start at the ground. Some of the obvious hand/bat path flaws may diminish after the front side blocking issue is addressed.
