GM,

That's exactly what I told her. You're either gonna have to trust it and let it rip or it's not gonna come back. As with anything the mental approach is key and often the hardest part. I have no doubt she'll get it just have to remember that she's coming off a major surgery and it takes time.

The biggest thing we are working on is getting the separation with resistance.

Please elaborate on this ^^^ a little more. I think this is an area that can help a lot of people who are trying to help their DDs. What body parts are separating? What body parts are resisting?

The biggest thing is the hands/ upper resisting while the lower is unloading. Simplest way to do it is to not let the shoulders turn out while the lower fires. Doing this you will a pull of the hands and when the eyes tell the hands to go they go and creates the whip coupled with the hand path. Pretty generic explanation I know but there's no need to get overly technical IMO.

I always had a motto when working with Brooke, keep it simple stupid and the body will do the rest, lol

That's certainly a simple/generic description. :) Where is the resistance/tension happening in the upper body as the lower is unloading? I talk with the hitters I work with (DD and her teammates) about feeling the tension in their scap (back of the shoulder) and running down the right side of their back as the hip turns. Is that along the lines of what you want Brooke to feel?

It's in the scap and lower back as it builds the resistance but I never told Brooke to pinch the scap because I felt it made her stiff. That's one of the things I let the body itself.

I think I've said it before that I don't like to over analyze the movements. I like to let the body and hitter figure things out naturally. I'll usually give a que based on what we're working on and sometimes I'll just tell them to focus somewhere else so I can almost trick them into doing what I want.

I think the shift into rotation is better in this swing. I looked at the first one frame by frame and while there is some shifting and then swinging, it wasn't all that bad.

There's some small improvements. Still not where she used to be but that's ok. She'll smooth out as we keep going

Good to see ya getting some daddy time! Long shot, but if you are taking her back to school, wouldn't be a terribly far detour to meet up at our indoor facility.

Thanks for sharing this. Hope and expect all will go great for Brooke.

A questions that I think would help us understand what you are working on and what you see.

1. To me it looks like her swing is much longer now. In the younger version Brooke more maintains "the box" and spacing between elbows. In the recent swing her front arm straightens much more during the swing with much more outward extension and less of a curved hand path. Is this intentional?
