It seems as though a certain type of parent likes to take the success of a naturally talented kid and turn it into a marketing tool for possibly questionable instruction. There's a big one of these on the pitching side too that I'm sure everyone can ID. I wonder what that is.

I'm sorry, but when I see the title "Best Hitting Drill Ever", the first thing that comes to mind is walking down the streets of New York and seeing the sign "World's Greatest Pizza". After you see the same sign a dozen times within an hour, you start becoming numb to it.

But to answer your question, I have never seen what he has to offer. It may very well be the "Best Hitting Drill Ever", or it could just be another drill...

Since I watched Elf 3 or 4 times over the Holidays, I was going to go with "Worlds best cup of coffee"...

I'm wondering if some of what he taught would have worked as some times new hitting tactics take time to show results.

Is there a thread on dfp that goes into depth on timing? Just getting back into this so sorry if it was discussed recently.

Also curious if anyone know what common denominator he is talking about when timing a pitcher?

He's trying to be clever and tell you just enough to get you to buy his thoughts. As we all know, there are two major parts to hitting -physical mechanics and mental mechanics. There are things that we all do when hitting that we are conscious of what we are doing, how we are doing it, and can teach it. Mental mechanics are harder to teach since we may not be aware of the exact steps that make us hit the ball, mentally. He is just focusing on attempting to teach the mental side.

His verbiage is his own and on the edge of misleading. His common denominators are:
1. Those things the batter and the pitcher do at the same time
2. Where to watch the pitcher for rhythm, so the batter can start to load and swing in the same rhythm as the pitcher.
3. When to move your vision to a certain spot between the pitcher and the plate where the ball's relative speed can adjust for the angle of the ball and know immediately if it is a strike or ball and whether or not it's in the area you hit your best hits according to your swing mechanics.
As for his teaching the mental side of hitting, I am pretty sure he understands it, but I doubt he can place it on a video and it have any real value. Watch his kid swing and you will see, he is doing mental gymnastics in rhythm with the pitcher.
Now, I'm going to find a "catcher" thread. I am upset that real Catching is a lost art. I'll leave the merits of mechanic, mental and physical, to you guys. You seem to know it pretty well
