Just my theory and nothing more than the results I've gotten with my hitters. Just like pitching, there's a power line to hitting. In pitching, the power line is wherever the body/toes land in relation to the hips/body. The ball being released in relation to their body/toes/hips will result in the fastest velocity of pitch. IMO, the bat, traveling along the same aforementioned body relationship and power line will result in the fastest bat speed. As you can see, he builds a nice corner as well as pulling the knob through with his front hand and elbow. This is the cue I like to use versus "knob to the ball." Front hand and elbow pull will result in the same action without undesired results from misunderstanding the verbal cue. Also, notice how he is "throwing" the bat down the power line in relation to his body position.

I was talking standard tee position, ball down the middle, one you'd want to drive straight down the fairway to CF.

Been thinking about this more as it applies to DD. Hit off too some more after starting this thread. She doesn't regularly get the knuckle ball. Still gets occasional slice. Ball goes to center, might roll 5 feet to the right of where it first lands. I'm thinking to get it more straight she really needs to master the rotation of the 'two engines,' as some call it. Her top engine/torso needs more ferris wheel, less merry go-round. Has something to do with that.

Gotcha.

Have you tried using the Zepp to see what her attack angle is?

No, but she has been hooked up to a rival brand that belonged to her hitting coach, and it verifies that she too often hits on a slight downward trajectory to contract. That's off front toss. Off the tee w/ reminders, she can achieve a slight upward angle. She kicks rear in tee ball, btw. But she's 18U now. :)
