11 yo DD tends to swing around her body and not through the ball. What are some good drills to help fix the issue ?

One of my favorites for this is the two tee drill. Many don't like this one but it works for me rather well. Put two tees in-line, back-to-back and about 12 inches apart. Have your DVD swing through and try to make contact with both balls.

I like your suggestion. Can I suggest raising the front tee up a little bit to get that 'upward to and through the ball'.

Bat throwing is fun and effective IMO. Swing and throw the bat into a net (or an open playing field) in the same direction that the ball is hit.

The best thing we ever did was a healthy dose of hitting line drives to right field every practice with front toss.

I am not really sure what you mean here. Is she all arms and swinging around the body? Is she spinning?

Not sure how else to put it, thought it was a pretty common term ?

She is not keeping the barrel square through contact, instead it is already starting to close.

Yes it is but I believe that there is a number of things that can cause the issue. Figure out what is causing the issue first the swinging around the body is just the effect of something else. Whether it maybe failure to release "chicken Wing" or something else. Once you figure out what is causing the issue then you can plan an educated attack instead of just throwing random drills at her JMHO.

Do you mean 'not staying long through the zone'.
instead it is already starting to close
Out of the zone quick/not finishing her swing? Making a quick left hand turn (rh batter)?
These would be the 'symptoms' of swinging 'around' the body.
