If you see somebody else's DD getting a paid hitting lesson and everything they are being taught is wrong, do you intervene at the time, talk to the parent afterwards, or just mind your own business?

Tough call, If it were one of ours, and I knew the parents, I might suggest asking the HC his opinion. If the instruction is that bad, the coach needs to know and can direct the parents to qualified help.

MYOB

If they are on your team, and the topic comes up later, or the parent engages you in conversation complaining why their DD went 0-for-14 last weekend, then maybe suggest another set of eyes. But generally speaking if I don't know them, I'm MYOB.

Best advice would be to mind your own business. If I was her coach, I may mention to the parents that they should explore other options, especially if she was struggling at the plate in games. I would also like to point out that "one size does not fit all" when it comes to hitting. Some girls may be very successful with an unorthodox swing. I know a couple of golfers with HORRIBLE swings who kick my rear every time we play....

I mind my own business. I don't know a lot about hitting but with pitching I don't say anything and someday when my attention turns to hitting I'm sure I'll feel the same way. It's not like it's hard to find accurate info; if people don't do any research it's their choice. They can pay for bad lessons if they want to. And IME from the past, much younger me, they don't listen when you tell them things anyway.

MYOB! I've experienced this in the past with opening my big mouth. Not necessarily bashing on a hitting coach but at something that bothered me for a long time. This kid has been going to the same hitting coach for the last 5-6 months twice a week and no progress at all. So I open my big mouth and offered the parent some advice on how to get rid of this flaw. He gave me the excuse that "oh she's just having a bad day". The only thing that was going through my head was "holy crap she has bad days all the time!" So I just MMOB now unless asked. I personally don't offer hitting lessons because it's not the time just yet. I have an 02 and 05 and my hands are tied with my knuckleheads. I do help close friends for beer ;)
