Way under the mendoza line. Hope the kid makes a rebound. Did she have any at bats last year after getting hit in the face?

Yes. Lots of them. She got hit in March, and was out for 2 weeks. Batted .326 last year.

By my mental addition she was 23 for 58 plus a ton of walks after the incident in 2016, good for a .397 which was better than her overall 2016 average of .326. She did decline fairly significantly from 2015 to 2016, maybe pitchers are figuring her out and/or general variance.

Only if the pitcher was in her windup/delivery. The 10-second rule is enforced with a strike being assessed.

When DD was pitching in 8U, with runners on base one particular team was instructed to call time and back out of the box late, right during DDs wind-up and she would stop her delivery. Since time was not officially called, an IP was called on her. It happened twice during the game. I told her, whether or not time is officially called during your wind-up throw the pitch anyways. She learned her lesson pretty quickly not to stop her motion.
