Out of sequence. Hands are ahead of proper rear leg usage. Absence of "extra stretch" (i.e., the missing frames are missing) ... a move that Yeager wishes to see on every pitch, whether you swing or not.

Overall she just looks fantastic. I really struggle with the same thing you do. I have tried this same drill and it seems to work on the surface but my fear is that it leads to an artificial band aid. Looking at your DDs swing, she starts her hands well ahead of her body in order to clear that rear tee, I doubt that happens in a game swing but I wonder if she were able to adapt this to a game swing if she wouldn't be worse off than if she were collapsing and swinging flat.

The thing I like about leveling and swinging flat (as far as flaws go) is that it is born out of a desire for power and it can be a powerful swing. replacing it with anything that bypasses a good stretch seems like throwing the baby out with the bath water.

I think the key to fixing it once the tee swing looks good is to give the hands a different task during the load/read.

if you are familiar with the command drill you will find that kids do not drop and drag when doing that drill but the minute you front toss to them and they have to read a pitch then this pattern emerges. so if you can give the hands another task during load instead of coming up and over and down while dropping the barrel then you might see some improvement without bypassing the stretch.

good feedback FFS. She has a tendency from time to time to turn back knee away. You can clearly see it here. I have heard mixed thoughts on that by people.

Further thoughts on that?

JJ great points.

Let's compare swings then. Below is a very successful swing that has some obvious flattening and leveling flaws. High pitch though.

This swing here is a swing with 'bat drag'. She lacks the "around" / "short-to" ... she looks to feel the "along" and "flings" the barrel, but it has limited energy conversion to the barrel do to the limited upstream action.

Right!!! That is exactly what I would have guessed. So instead of trying to correct it by forcing an artificial "down to" bat path why not bring her hands a lot lower to start with and give her a feeling of stretching back instead of down? With her hands starting so high she will always have to drop them to get into position. I would play around with handset and what they are doing during the load and try to have their position at max load be such that she can't drop the barrel.

The hand path in this tee swing is better than in her game swing ..... but it is out of sequence, and will fail in the batter's box ... she will not be able to feel the slingshot-ing of the barrel forward, but instead will be an "all arms" swinger.
