What would be a high swing speed for a 10yo using a 31" -10 lxt?

DD went to a 12u tryout today and had her swing speed checked and it was 73mph. That was a lot faster than I expected, she took 5 swings and all were between 69 and 73. She said the next highest was 65 and it was from a big tall 12yo, the rest of the girls in her group were in upper 50's. Does this sound right?

I'm not sure how they were testing it but that sounds too high considering Jenny Finch is at and 74 according to Zepp. I believe the highest at the University of TN last year was 69 which had hundreds of high school girls from around the country.

Ok thnx, I thought it was a little high also. How much off an effect would bat size have on bat speed? I would think that Finch would be swinging 33" or 34" bat, if DD's was right what would it look like with the same size bat that Finch was using?

Have a hitter coming into her Freshman year that measures at 79mph with the Zepp. Only point is that it is doable.

My 13 DD attended a Nike softball camp and they said her swing was 80. She swings a 33/23.

Zepp Labs had a booth or something at PGF 12U Nationals and was tweeting speeds that sounded exceedingly high. 85 mph from an 11 yo and 88 from a 13 yo.

Yes...Zepp has generally higher readings so how they tested definitely matters.

I love Zepp but you can miss hit a ball and get outrageous numbers...DD had hit some in the upper 80s and that's just not possible (unless you're Bustos maybe:)

They weren't using a zepp, it was some type of radar. ex division one coach/player was doing the testing. Not sure that matters but just figured they weren't using some cheap pocket radar.
