One of the coolest parts of the whole Derby experience for me was being around the batting cage that is just a short hallway away from the clubhouse. A clip I’ve studied a ton over the years is a clip of Pujols in the cage from a previous Derby. I don’t even know what year it was. Here’s the clip:

I always wished I could see the full lower body actions in the first clip and now I have it! I felt like I was walking into a real life video clip when I was watching it live.

Question: What do we all think about releasing the upper hand and finishing the swing with one arm? I had a young lady doing this and I immediately made her "correct" it. Maybe I should not have.

Personal style in my opinion, provided it doesn't happen too early. My DD does this and I have no issue with it. By the time her hand releases, impact is long over...

Charley Lau was a strong advocate of a top hand release.
