I have trouble seeing the logic to this. There are several posters on this site that IMO have a very good understanding of the swing and I have gained a great deal by reading their posts. It makes no difference to me whether they post videos of themselves or their students. In fact with how malicious others are (especially at another site) I cannot blame anyone that does not want to subject a youngster to the ridicule they will receive.

FP26, you are talking to a person searching for a way not to have a discussion supporting what they advocate, yet wishing to support it through a non-support approach.

They claim to be following advice that is making their daughter dramatically better. They post video of their DD that shows multiple swing issues and yet the swing completely lacks the mechanic they claim to advocate. Yet they express concern over the mechanic being included in the HOS thread. They even acknowledge that their DD hasn’t yet acquired the skill, yet somehow give credit to the skill for an improvement in performance. And when asked for verification of the mechanic being advocated via the Hanson Principle they respond by putting the requester on their ignore list.

Just silly games really …. Post crickets chirping …. Claim a mechanic that you support is being taken out of context (when it is not) … Claim you need to see someone else’s swing as a reason to support your preferred mechanic, without actually providing any real support of the mechanic you advocate … Put the poster on ignore after they request verification of the mechanic they favor. Someone skeptical might think there was an effort to avoid supporting the particular mechanic that was posted.

Honestly … it would be so simple to drop the nonsense and discuss hitting. Ask yourself why that isn’t happening.

Not here.
Different poster/gifs/video/instructions seem to 'click' for some and not others. I may like one posters suggestions (regardless of personality) or video demo and other poster finds that video/gif horrendous. As I may find their video/gif/instructor/hitting coach instruction demo horrendous to my eyes. JMHO.

Good points.

To add to this … When searching for information apply filters … for example, ignore Internet personalities and focus on content. Many students could care less where the information is coming from that you use to help them get better … their focus is more on seeing the efforts of their hard work result in an improvement going forward.

As you suggest, each person needs to come to their own conclusion as to what constitutes HOS-type teaching mechanics. Having discussions on particular mechanics helps folks formulate opinions and reach their decision points.

Back on topic:

How about knob down and to the ball?

If you listen to the instruction they are giving it is keeping the knob inside the ball, not taking the knob to the ball.

I thought that was the emphasis also. It could be that CoachYoYo keyed off of the comment at the 50-sec mark … “always leading with the knob goes to that ball”.

The top hand drill from earlier is actually two different drills in one. The thing under the foot is to teach weight distribution, and not squish. As far as the top hand, it is done to teach throwing the barrel through the ball, as opposing to hitting around the ball. Excuse me if my terminology isn't exactly as you desire it. I know this because I teach it to my girls. I teach it to my team. I teach it to my team because their hitting coach at the moment has been teaching it and doing well with it.
