Been working with DD on her hitting thanks to all the great advise I've gotten here on the board. She has never been a good hitter until this year. On her HS team this year she is batting .313 and has hit 7 off the fence on the fly but still no home runs (SIGH!) Anyway, we've made some improvements but it still needs work. I'm smart enough to know something doesn't look right but not smart enough to figure out what it is. We have worked on the shoulder tilt and creating and holding the C, but my main thing I see is that it looks like she is still dropping her hands. At the connection point her hands don't really get stacked above her back elbow. The thing is I have looked through a bunch of the model swings and I see this in several of them. Is it possible this is a slight variation in the softball versus baseball swing? (I know FFS, don't flame me too bad. LOL). I was just thinking that maybe since the softball comes in on a much flatter trajectory versus a baseball this is a mechanism to get the bat on the plane better, faster, sooner??? Anyway, I know we need work so bring it on guys. Let's get my DD her first home run! Thanks for any feedback.

I would be very happy with that swing. Nice job.

I've been telling my dd to imagine you have a bat across your hips right at your belt line. That bat should be to the ball a fraction of a second before the one in your hands.

Overall I like her swing. She seems very athletic and I am quite sure she can put some serious "thump" on the ball. If there was one thing I would look at, it would be the positioning of her lead elbow on this picture. I'm sure the gurus here can explain it better than I, but I think the elbow should be farther away from the body. I think Stand an's advice would help correct this, as I think it is the result of an "around the body" swing. I'm sure the experts will correct me if I am wrong, and then we can both learn together. Enjoy!
