My daughter (a right hander) can hit the ball from either side of the plate but of course stronger on the right side stance. She wants to work on slap hitting from the left side stance. I know a little bit to be dangerous as far as rules go. Stay in the box and do not step on home plate while making contact. I was wondering if any one has seen a decent little short you tube video or other video out there that shows proper mechanics to doing a slap hit.

Get team USA slap hitting DVD. I have many on slap hitting and it is one of the best. My dd went from batting right to left at 9 and never went back. I'm a firm believer you teach them to hit from the left and not just slap. In softball no need to be a switch hitter.

Ehren earlywine has two, one mechanics and one drills. Discusses three styles; drop step, straight crossover, and high step. Nothing earthshaking, but good. A little pricey though. Here is a short teaser.

If you can get a hold of the Weeklys DVD on the short game, I think Karen Weekly does a great job on slapping progression and common flaws. My dd's HS coach wants her slappers to have the footwork of moving the right foot to the left and step over. Karen shows why that's wrong because you lose a lot of ground in the box. I don't know if their DVDs are available online or only at seminars they attend. They very cheaply made, but the information is solid.
