Hi guys. Please give me your thoughts, opinions, suggestions on my DD's swing. I see a few things that need to be worked on. I am interested to see what others think.

Thanks!!!

Very little loading of the hands, push/disconnect, spins with the lower half. That's the things I would work on.

Are these full effort swings? If not, it could affect or at least be a partial cause of what I'm seeing....

My advice: turn the barrel behind the rear hip.

I have said a lot lately...and all from working in the cage with almost 20 hitters several times a week in the last month...simple learn to coil, and learn the turn the barrel. She seem to coil, but then pushes past it with her swing. Turn the barrel and swing with the back muscles and much improvement will be seen.

Agree with this...those 2 things will fix a lot. Still needs to load the hands though. Hard to turn the barrel if there's slack in line. Slack usually = push because that's the only way to get the bat moving. There needs to be some separation between hands and rear hip.

Also, may still have some lower half issues to address, but these things will improve that as well. Have her work on these things and re-video.

Agree, this girl initiates her swing with her upper body (OTT type swing).

Get the backside leading the swing .....

Thanks guys. I understand everything you are saying except when you say 'turn the barrel behind the rear hip'. What does that mean?

Oh and one other thing. I rewatched the video and realized that these are not full effort swings. So, I will have to record that and post it at some point.

These 2 gifs illustrate turning the barrel behind the rear hip. Notice the path of the barrel in relation to where the rear hip is. The key to this you have to get some hands to rear hip separation to take the slack out, then turn the barrel into the ball without the hands/arms coming forward from the rear shoulder. It has to be done 100% with hands and hips. Absolutely NO arm pull/push. The arms release and make any needed adjustments after lag.

Yeah, I can see what you mean with that. I will talk to her hitting coach about it.

Here is what I think are things to work on as well. What do you guys think?

1. Sometimes her stand is too wide.
2. Her right knee is not straight to the plate. It points to the catcher.
3. Her left elbow gets too high. I think it should be tucked in more.
4. She leans over the plate too much. Her head and shoulders lean a lot when she swings.

Another question... :D

You guys talk about her loading her hands. I think part of the problem in this video is these aren't full effort swings, so this is not a real representation of her game swing. Putting that aside though...

If she loads her hands, do you think that will help with turning the barrel behind the hips?
