Please comment on the issues you would work on first if this was your DD. Thanks !

Looking better 99 :0) If I remember correctly She was opening that front leg early and squishing in the back. You both have made progress in that department. She still opens a little early. It would be nice to see Her front shoulder move down and towards the ball as She picks up Her front foot.
Try this cue with Her and see if it helps. Use those lower ab muscles to turn that 2 inch section above the hips towards the pitcher when you pick up the front foot. She can actually start it before picking up the front foot. Don't let the front hip, knee, or foot open. You want the hips/knee, and leg working in the opposite direction(backwards). If you were wearing a belt with a buckle on it you would want to try to turn the buckle toward the pitcher. You can't actually turn it towards the pitcher but it is a way to control the core and will bring the front shoulder down and keep the upper balanced over the lower when done correctly.
Keep up the good work! TJ Maybe you can see it in the clip below...

Turning the belt buckle toward the pitcher will not lower the front shoulder. It will also cause the hips to open too early.

Hey Phreak, I get it! it's hard to understand. I wrote it just the way I intended it. Please reread it paying close attention to the intructions. It's about resistance between the hips/legs and the upper(everything above the hips). Perhaps the belt buckle gives to low a target. Instead think of the the belly button(BB).
Think of it like this if you will. You DO NOT want the lower(hips and legs) and the upper(torso and shoulders) turning in the same direction at the same time. So, while the hips are coiling(turning back) you want the torso to turn forward OR at least stay in place(square to the plate). Then when the hips rotate forward towards the pitcher you want you torso to turn backwards OR at least stay in place(square to the plate) until the hips pull the torso through.

Turning the belt buckle toward the pitcher will not lower the front shoulder. It will also cause the hips to open too early

So the above comment by you makes it clear that you haven't felt the coiling of the hips combined with the resistance of the core.
Try this. Take a stance with your hip coil preset. Pick up your front foot turning your knee and foot back towards the catcher AND at the same time use your abs( the muscles around your belly button/BB) to turn your mid section forward towards the pitcher. Don't use your shoulders to make the turn. Use your lower stomach muscles. Do it on front of a mirror. You should start to see your front side scrunching and your front shoulder lowering. Good luck. I haven't been very active on the site recently so it seems I may have missed some of the discussion.

That being said, I think I have a pretty good grasp of the subject. It's just being described with an emphasis on a different way to feel the upper body resistance to the lower half coil.

But I'm pretty sure of the result I would get if I used that cue on most of the players I work with. They would have to already have a very good understanding of the subject. It may be that this discussion is intended for a more advanced audience. And that's fine. Like I said, I've been out of the loop a few months.

Fair enough Phreak. You may be right! May just be a new way of saying something you have understood all along. The emphasis by many has been shifted lower to feeling the separation in the lower abdomen. To the OP, my apologies if this seems too much to absorb.
