I'm not here to pick a fight with anyone. But all the back and forth reminds me of something old dad use to tell us.

"The moment a man a starts to talk about only one technique, that's proof he's out of ideas". That's goes for hitting and pitching.

The Fielder clip and this one are not about the rear upper leg driving the rear hip anywhere....

PujolsG_zpsbc971a09.gif

Is the development of the wrinkles in the lower back region of Pujols' shirt supposed to be a clue?

Is it the resistance of the hips with the lower back muscles as the upper rear leg drives?

Why the guessing game?

Where would one find Teacherman's son or students? He's out of St Louis right? Just like to see how those hitters hit against some decent family pitching. I got a nephew pitching D2 in the Great American Conference. Next year I'll have one in D1 Mountain West Conference. Just like to see how minds from other disciplines collide. Makes life fun. :)

Steve, it blows my mind that you spent time on Teacherman’s website and yet make the posts you do. You obviously weren’t there to learn, and there is absolutely no way that you would have debated him. So what was your purpose there?

I watched some stuff last winter, more since. I don't believe I have a right to "mussy up" his site with my input or opinion. It is his site and that is all there is to say! Respect! I don't believe I ever posted there. Just look. And as far as listen? Well I have one near future meeting and requested another but got no response. I want to learn new approaches for teaching. Also, I teach a curve-ball, roll-over drop, a low outside rise-ball, and about 5 or 6 different change-ups, not what I threw (third string pitcher). And yet I have great respect for Bill Hillhouse, and as I have posted here, if I had a daughter, I would send her to him! So yeah, I listen. I even said the SnF doesn't bother me. I like load, I like coil for the right girls. But I don't teach it to all girls, just like I don't teach the same change-up to all girls.

I guess all the debates we have been in involved the bat path.
I don't think I have heard you talk about the rear leg. What does it do?

Well I will tell you what my hitters do, and the exceptions do. They collapse that rear leg (bend knee) with minimum 60%, preferably 70% of their weight back. They then hit the ball as I have prescribed. Some without any coil, or any bat wrap. It depends on their age, and it depends on their fast-twitch muscles. Girls with bat speed I prefer they coil on their rear leg, show their back pocket to the pitcher, and use some bat wrap to load the wrists. They uncoil at "heel-plant" and hit the ball. Now, how many girls do I coach in clinics who can do this? Very few. They don't have enough bat speed. How many at the International level? This is one who can. More, but not all.

Maybe it is me, but you seem to lack focus and ramble all over the map.

So you teach a curve-ball.

So you teach a roll-over drop.

So you teach a low outside rise-ball.

So you teach 5 or 6 different change-ups.

So you didn't throw what you teach.

So you were a third string pitcher.

So you respect Bill Hillhouse.

So you don't have a daughter.

So you would send your pretend daughter to Bill Hillhouse if you had one.

What does all of that have to do with this thread?

By hand-push, no unless you mean in front of the hip, after connection at the hip. Or you could call the the beginning of extension. I actually have no problem with Brooke or Olivia's swings. I love 'em, love the bat speed. Brooke is slightly quicker, and she has been focused on it longer, but I think they will end up very similar. What I will tell you is that what I see is some "casting". What is casting and the difference with sweeping? Sweeping is like a dragging straight arm swing with "drag" as they say. Casting is the projection of the hands and bat out away from the shoulder to get behind a pitch that is on the outer-half. It doesn't hurt hitting that pitch, but on the outside edge, I don't think it is a positive. The ball must be hit deeper. And he is the irony of my debates with Teacherman. If you hit it deeper, and you are driving it to right-center, how are you squared behind the ball? You can't be. You are hitting the ball at an angle, slightly on the inside edge. If you were squared behind the ball, it would go toward center.

Now let me ask you a simple question. It is physics. Why do balls pulled down the left field line hook, and balls hit down the right-field line slice? It is not just an inside out swing. That is hitting without "authority". You can crush the ball and it will wrap around the foul poll. Either poll you hit it to. This is what troubles people like Chris O'Leary and I. This is so fundamental that it defies logical dismissiveness. And then the individual derides Chris and I saying, My first offering....Steve Huff and Chris O'Leary are clueless....TOTALLY. NEITHER have ever swung a bat to duplicate movements. Teacherman doesn't know this because I don't think I ever posted there. But I joined his site last winter, not under Steve Huff, before I left for Europe.

So God Made Steve Huff....
Teacherman, Yesterday at 11:36 AM (66 Views)

God knew there were only so many spots on big league rosters. God knew there were only so many good softball teams. God knew he had to limit the number of players good enough to play at a high level.

So God made Steve Huff....and Chris Yeager (the quack)....and Paul Nyman....and Steve Englishbey....and Howard....and on and on and on.

Just a little humor boys and girls. True humor.

First Bold, Yes, if you are talking about the line the pitch is coming in on but not if you are talking about where the barrel came from and if the barrel continues through the ball on the same path.

2nd Bold, They don't always hook or slice. Ideally you want to keep them straight with no hook or slice.

From this it sounds like you didn't learn how to effectively teach stretch-and-fire mechanics. Yet you claim to have spent time at Teacherman's site. Are you suggesting that Teacherman is a poor teacher, or that the issue was on the learning side of the equation?

I have received a lot of help from many, and not a single one has pitched me on any products or tried to sell me anything. You are way off base. If this is TMs message, I am thankful someone is getting it out....

Sorry I am a little hyped, I just watched crankermo's DD's video about 10 times... ;-)

I swear I felt the hair on my head moving from the torrent. There isn't a huge difference between your kids. As I said before, Brooke as been working the bat speed issue for awhile. If you look at MTS's student's swing, it doesn't have the bat speed to notice. That isn't saying that none do. Some girls have it and some don't! Your daughters have it!
