1. Toes pointed at pitcher. Allow upper body turn to pull outside foot up on toe. Get a better stretch in the lower back. The rest of weight on inside foot/leg.
2. Twist your shoulders back and make sure your inside knee does not twist back. You will need to bend your inside leg and sit (stick your butt out) to get the feeling of your inside leg and inside hip joint coil tightly. (Standing straight up and down won't give you the right feel.) FEEL the stretch up the rear side.
3. You should also bend over at the hip joints so you can look down and see a spot on the floor and not your foot.
4. Get your front shoulder pointed at the first baseman (RH hitter) or third baseman (LH hitter). Load hands/elbow to tighten scap point the knob to catcher. Keep tightening the stretch between inside leg turned forward and back pulling rearward.
5. Once the bat gets turned rearward your body will seek balance and that will release your hips and spring you so to speak. The leg and hip should drive first and then the barrel will follow.
6. Launch/turn the barrel away from the 1B (RH)/3B (LH) to start the swing. Make sure you understand that launch is a release, like a slingshot, not a hard push.
7. Make sure you swing OUT from the body, not around, and get behind the inside leg pulling.

Sorry. Let myself get distracted.
Nice instructions Mountie! It also helps me when first doing it to get the feeling of sitting on my femur. Also the only time I even think about my front leg is the first few...and that thought is "stay out of the way."

FPT the SnF drill is the easiest way to get the stretch and fire feeling of the engine that powers the high level swing. The snf is why Bonds, Kemp, Bustos, and etc. have such sudden, explosive snap swings with not a lot of forward body movement.

I think Mountie got it, and TM was talking about how excited MTS was when he felt it...the SNF changed everything for me regarding the swing.....and as was said "you get excited and get the urg to share it with everyone."

No problem RHC... You have helped me alot. You got it right, I'm trying to have fun on here too. Loved the answer. You know I haven't been real serious about working on swing, still thinking I should hold off till I can get handle on the growth spurt per her Speed and Agility Coach having me hold off on his thing till he see's what we got to work with. She has shot up 1.5 inches since August. Problem I got, is if I don't do something, I got too many coming out of the wood work in the real world trying lol. Thx as always

I am catching up on some work right now and will go to your thread and gif it later today, but just something that came up the other day...I asked Teacherman in an email a week ago, "what about my team girls that don't have the time or take the time for several personal lessons a week?" His answer was to also work on the snf and snf drill with them, that the snf can help power up less then ideal mechanics too.

Chill my friend... I not in a big hurry.... That video might not even be good enough. I was really checking out the lighting, we just started going to that location, and I hadn't shot anything yet. It was pretty good (lighting that is). Plus I'm looking for a pair of white uniform pants for my next attempt. Thx to U :{))

HOLY SHEET DUDE! She picks up on it FAST! It's only been a few days, just keep working on getting behind the rear leg/hip socket pull and the barrel whip, some of them I think she was a bit more of a push of the barrel. It's just me, but I believe that trying to maintain the box inhibits from a great barrel whip, and can make it a push. I have posted gifs before of Pujols and others that get their rear elbow close to or ahead of there hands on some pitches.
very nice coil!

Outstanding progress for your DD, knightsb! She is really taking HUGE leaps forward.

When she's ready for another "tweak," I would have her work on finishing longer after contact. She still seems to be shortening her swing after contact. If my thinking is correct on the SnF (I won't get a chance to start working on this drill until tomorrow night's HS batting cages), she can fix this by thinking OUT from her body on the SnF drill, and not around. Look at how "big" the hitters in the SnF GIFs provided in this thread get after contact. I've used the inverted grip drill to work on this before, but I think I'm going to monkey around with SnF to address this with my hitters.

Again, great work on your DD! You should be really proud of her (and yourself)!

Knight - I love the song selection. Thank you!!

Love the progress she is making which goes to show that this does not have to be a 6 month ordeal to change some things for the better....shout out to TM for helping see the light.

OK - my constructive piece of advice/analysis:

Front shoulder still in charge of bringing the barrel around. Does it help you/her to think of the elbows and hands forming a triangle and that you are simply turning the triangle to swing?
