I cant help but think the Demarini artical was written before the bat technology changed. This theory probably holds water with an old school metal bat. As far as todays technology with composites and even all metal like rocketechs... this old thinking isn't applicable to todays bats. IMO... Swing the heaviest bat you can as long as fundamentals aren't compromised.
Lets see old school metal, I am pretty sure there were all single wall, some weighing as much as 35oz. Early 1990s and before, Then the double wall bats started coming out, then triple wall. Then came the composites. Make little guys hit like the big boys, with the bats trampoline effect with the ball. If anyone remembers when Miken made the ultra bat early 2000s maybe 2003. Thats what started the banning of bats and testing again that is slowpitch. That bat had insane performance.
