My DD rolls her wrists over when she swings. With any luck sometime today i can get some video of her swing, I'm sure that will help you with advice. I am looking for drills and tips to help her stop this. Thanks.

When you get the video, make certain that we can see her grip on the bat. If the bat is too far back in the hand, as opposed to being out on the fingers, it can contribute to rolling the hands.

Easton Turbo Slot gloves are good to use, to combat this - as well as the videos posted by Hitter and Crystl Bustos.

Rolling the wrists is generally a symptom of something else.

Get some video.

I agree strongly with Amy (including the Turbo Slot glove recommendation as a training aid).

A good starting point on this problem is:

1) what is the mental image the girl has of a softball swing? does she think or been taught or seen other girls with a softball swing that is a wrist roll and back-slap? Many think that's the right thing to do or (I bet) that it looks cool. So they do it.

2) like Amy said, get the grip out in her fingertips. most girls literally fight one hand against the other by gripping deep between their thumb and pointer finger. Wrist rolling is often the only way to finish when starting with that kind of grip

A lot of what Hitter has to say about grip, release (hammer) and finish is a really good antidote to wrist rolling.

Do her hands drop as the pitcher releases the ball? IOW does she drop her hands and then swing? Does her front elbow collaspe prior to contact?

These are two areas you may want to look at.

Sorry i haven't gotten a chance to get some video shot of DD's swing. I think her main issue is her front elbow just collapses. maybe this weekend i can get some vid on here. Stay tuned.
