DD is nursing a broken ankle. She had surgery this past Friday and the prognosis is actually really good. They are expecting her to be full weight bearing between 4-6 weeks and should be out of the splint and doing partial weight bearing after her appt on Monday. She will return as we wrap up area play and get ready for the post season.

I am looking for some drills she can do off of a stool. She hit off a stool in the cage at practice yesterday. I want to give her some options that will actually be helpful if anyone has a drill they can share. Would she be better served just focusing on making sure she is just keeping her arms movements correct?

Sorry to hear about your DD, but the full recovery part is good news. My DD just went through this. She had knee surgery last Aug. and just got cleared to play last week. Her and her travel coach identified 2 areas for her to work on at home and at practices this past winter. The first was a slight correction of her throwing motion. Her throw was a bit too over the top, so she spent hours of practice sitting on a bucket throwing a foam softball against a wall with focus on correct throwing motion. This in particular was something we probably never get around to without the surgery. I think this will pay dividends for her going forward with better form to avoid injury, plus she's an outfielder so throwing out runners was her motivation. The second thing she worked on was hand eye coordination hitting drills from bucket. This consisted of lots of 1 handed isolated drills off a tee while sitting on a bucket.

Good luck to you and your DD on the recovery.

I concur. We did much of the same thing while nursing a hammy. Once DD recovered fully, she was a better hitter and better thrower than before the injury.
