Been working with my daughter trying to get her started earlier in the load and also because she is starting earlier she can slow. Which I think gives her more control. Also Eric F. I showed her a video of your daughter batting to try and show my daughter that if you start early enough you can slow down and be more in control. That being said she saw your daughter doing a open stance and said she wanted to do that. I don't have any problems with, I think its great. I much rather have her do that than a lot of all back then forward high uncontrolled leg kick she has been doing. So thanks to you and your daughter! Also any suggestions are welcome!

My DD has wonderful tempo off the tee. Once the ball is moving, and in particular if somebody is throwing windmill (yes it is worse than what I showed in recent
thread), then we get this

Hopefully your DD is able to transfer her tempo to a moving ball unlike my DD.

This was her off of side toss. Yard was to wet to do anything. Hopefully its a descent sign she will when doing front toss. A little more ball movement distance.

Good or bad, it appears that your DD is at least consistent (in the various parts of her swing, not only her tempo) for the most part when when moving from to tee to a moving ball. Certainly
makes things a bit easier from a teaching perspective.

Watch out for her hands drifting forward before she launches. We can see this happening with the side toss. You will also likely see it with front toss. Another thing I would look out for is her weight shifting over the outside of her rear foot. She is wanting to shift her weight back to power the move forward. Learning how to coil should come pretty soon.

Have you seen Justin Stone's step-and-hit drill? I think there some elements of it that could be very helpful for her.

Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing her development. :)

Also...Nice Marshall!

Looks like she isn't balanced enough in her stance in a lot of her swings, e.g. too much pressure on her back foot. In some swings it looks like she is starting with her front heel off the ground
which, for some reason, I see a lot with younger girls.

The issues in bold, I definitely noticed. I'm getting better at even noticing without the use of vide which is good. But anyhow those things are going to be worked on slowly. The rear leg going over the back foot, seems to me her not knowing to move the rear knee to the inside during the negative move. Over all I was happy just to see her a little more controlled and slowed down. She felt better about it too.

I haven't heard of the Justin Stone drill you mentioned, but I will check it out.

As far as the Marshall I've been playing for roughly 17 years now, Do you play?

I'll add on to JS drill...
This is my youngest DD and sorry for no video...
Same as JS drill but just a slight different set up and possibly more feel. At least for my DD. There's a few different variations of a hover drill. You can also try a staggered stance~lead foot in front of back or vice versa. "Slow to explode" is what I use but whatever works. I've also had luck with 'keep your knee above your toes as long as you can'. Hope it helps.
