Patar,

WRT bleeding the coil. What are you are looking at? What are your check points when looking for bleed? I find that she maintains the rear hip and doesn’t extend it early..... When you write elbow someone behind you.... how do you suggest that action to be fulfilled? Is it a twisting of the torso you are wanting?

Spend the money on a quality hitting coach. Its worth it. 25-40 bucks a lessons is about average. Focus on line drives. Homeruns are bonuses. Below is another video we did for strength training. Pretty lame but was effective. Dont be afraid to try new and out of the box techniques .

Thanks for this. We actually have a tire I was going to incorporate into some type of training for her and this is perfect!! I just bought a 20 lb wall ball for her to throw - of course, we are in NE Kansas so it is 22 degrees and we are having a hard time finding a concrete wall for her to throw it at, lol. We are so tired of the dang snow. Normally I would say she could throw the ball to me and I would catch it, but I have RA and just can't train with her like I used to be able to before I was diagnosed. I would love to find more good strength drills for her batting as well. I really appreciate the help.

I also have pretty much decided I will need to do the hitting coach again. DH has done great with her up until this point but I am not sure she takes me as seriously since I was a basketball player vs. my dh who was the baseball player..... SMH.

Pattar,
Related follow up question in regard to losing the coil early/ not using legs. Be gentle here and correct me but I have noticed that this problem also shows itself in the form of swinging around the front leg and struggle with the outside pitch? I see that type of swing a LOT and none of them have a good backside swing to get behind the ball.

In many ways keeping the coil on the stride and hitting the outside pitch with power have some correlation when trying to teach my kids how important using the legs are to the swing.

Yes when a hitters loses their coil they tend to have to power their swings by rotating the hips hard which will make it hard to stay on outside pitches.

I am looking at her rear elbow, she doesn't maintain any scap pinch as she moves out. You maintain by continuing to pull back with your back (upper and lower) as you move out. I wouldn't call it twisting since I can twist my torso and have minimal if any back muscle engagement.

Watch Trout's continuous pull back until he launches

My DD doesn't do it and it causes various issues, including moving out with upside down shoulders (this girl has that to a certain extent as well). Last night we worked on her continuing to pull back as she strides with live ball, as she does off the tee, and magically when she did it correctly, she maintained a good "attack position" till launch (e.g. lead shoulder down and in). I think my DD is getting to the point where she can actually incorporate body movements that I am demonstrating and/or explaining..

FFS says rock the U but in somebody like Trout who already has his hands in a power position before move out there isn't much rocking. Lindor is a good example of rocking the U where by the rocking pinches the scap on his negative move and then he continues to pull back on his move out until he launches. You can maintain the hip coil/corner but if you lose the stretch behind it before launch maintaining hip coil doesn't do much.

So I discussed the all forward concept with her and she is trying to fix that aspect of her swing. I would love some feedback on the adjustment she made?

TIA
