I like the feeling of releasing into/through impact.
Pick up a ball and throw it. At what point was the ball traveling the fastest? Unless you were in some abnormal environment, the ball was traveling fastest at release.
You want your bat to be traveling fastest at impact.
Releasing the top-hand/wrist into/through impact not only gives you maximum barrel speed at impact, but it also gives you the square.
Take a look at a professional kinematic swing sequence. Notice that the velocity of the bat peaks just a smidgen prior to impact. That's important.
