How about hitting tennis balls? I have seen teams warm up with tennis balls and I wonder why You don't see it more. I like it. They are smaller (focus). Same color almost. If you dont square it up just right it won't travel (feedback). Safe for those ones not paying attention. Easier to pitch/toss than wiffle balls.

I use them at home with my dd. I don't know how much it helps technically but they are smaller and she gets a kick out of how far they go when she does get a hold of one. We also have an acre to hit on so that helps. We also use the golf ball sized wiffles with the skinny bat, she really likes that as well.

Weighted balls helped dd for some reason she would stop her swing at contact. Weighted balls forced her to push through extension so we do use them before game sometimes to enforce the feeling of pushing through extension. But not as a normal routine.

Interesting. I stir hitters away from hitting into weighted balls because they encourage the hitter to push through to extension.

At least we agree on what is happening when a hitter hits abnormally heavy balls.

Please explain the motion between contact and extension if it’s not a top hand pushing. DD is using lower body she is torquing core has a good bat path. I have been teaching top hand push to extension. I didn’t really start emphasizing this push feeling until I realized she was almost letting go of top hand at contact. She is 12 .

Some believe that in a good swing the application of force/torque to the handle ceases shortly after launch and from that point on the barrel is on autopilot. Not sure if that is what FFS is referring or not.

Thanks patter so in the grand scheme of things I’m not hurting her by keeping her engaged through extension. The stopping at contact was not cutting it.

Not sure what you mean by engaged but if it means to continue to apply force through contact that isn't what I said...Again I am only relaying what some camps ascribe to.

By engaged I mean continuing an applied force to the Handel through contact. I may be wrong but as to my observation when she was releasing top hand at contact the bat would slow down so much at contact she would not make it to extension.

While technically one is applying a force when one holds the bat, that isn't what I meant. What the hands holding the bat at contact contributes to the actual ball path was a topic of
conversation in another thread.

What I was referring to when I said applying force into the handle was an actual force in the direction of the ball. One line of thought is that you want to
get the bat up to speed as soon as possible (e.g. near launch) and then ride that bat speed into contact with little to no additional force into the ball.
