You mean like a paid instructor allowing the bat to strike the outside of the cage?

My first thought was that she's probably not following through as much as she should. Almost like she's finishing her swing too early, but that just my impression

That was my immediate thought too. She's not really following through. Very stunted. And that makes her swing (to me, and I'm just some random guy) look a bit too relaxed and non-powerful. Perhaps that's just because it's in the cage and not on the field.

We teach (my coaching staff on the advice of a two pro hitting coaches) to keep both hands on the bat and follow through all the way around. <-- They use better terms than I am here, of course. :)

Thank you everyone. We have always had problems with her finishing her swing whether she hangs on with both hands or let's go. She's so anxious to run bases and get to first she doesn't take the time to finish. A work in progress I suppose....we will keep at it.

Not sure what 'not finishing her swing' means.
No one has a problem with the 'swaying back'....
No one has a problem with the all back, all forward....
Some might like the 'all up front action....not me.
Some might like the 'swing' beside/out front of the hitter type swing...not me.
As far as the 'dropping of the rear shoulder. The swing(and) drops the shoulder. It's not drop the rear shoulder then swing.

She's swinging to extension and then letting up.

I was going to ask if she's getting separation as it might be that she's all back, all forward. But I think I do see some. Hard for me to tell -- I'm no expert.

Thanks for being cool about the critique. She has a really nice swing, I hope that goes without saying.

My 06 daughter is struggling with consistency. Overall she is a good hitter with as much power as bigger girls on her team. She plays for arguably the best organization in the midwest. We're trying see what to work on...I see her standing up in her swing, I also see her dropping the back shoulder. These are her worst swings from the lesson not the best ones but I felt these highlight the flaws. I posted before but couldn't post the video. Hopefully this works

First off, not bad at all. I just think she needs a better starting point. She doesn’t use the ground to leverage her swing. So she ends up swinging ‘uphill’. You said she’s has good power, she just lacks consistency(timing). She leveraged her hips to get her swing out there which is hard to do when consistently timing a moving ball. Basically because she has a different starting point everytime. Here’s a pro ‘load’.

Some good points.

IMO the torso is responsible for the lowering of the rear shoulder. However, the torso does start the swing ... so perhaps one could view it as "the swing drops the shoulder" ... but it is the torso action that is causing that.
