My 12u 06 is struggling with leading with her front shoulder instead of her elbow. We think this is causing her back shoulder to drop. Despite this flaw she is a good overall hitter hitting somewhere in the top 5 slots on the highest level team in our area. However we think this is part of her inconsistency. Any ideas on drills to fix this. Here is a video which is of some of her worst swings which I think really highlight the issue.

One thing I do with DD when her front shoulder is opening up is to take a BP session and work nothing but outside pitches - off the tee and front toss - and having her really concentrate on working oppo. As we finish the front toss, I will gradually work more middle pitches with her and still have her focusing on going oppo with them. Let the ball be the feedback.

Coach: Hey Sally, your front shoulder is going up and out.

Sally: Yes Coach. I need to do that in order to swing.

Coach: Ok Sally, I don't want to stress you out, but I want you to know that your rear shoulder is being lowered.

Sally: Yes Coach, I am using my torso-engine.

Parents: I'm calling you to let you know that Sally won't be at your next practice.

So its something else is what you're saying that's causing her inconsistency...is there a thread regarding torso engine
