Thought I’d take a chance and post this before I try to diagnose it.

DD is having pain on meaty part of bottom hand between pinky and wrist. She is contacting the knob with that part of her hand somewhere at or just after contact with the ball. No bruising but I can tell it is bothering her. I checked her grip and it seemed normal. I think for some reason she is stopping the bat before completely finishing her swing. I *think* the bat knob then digs into her hand. She tried moving her bottom hand up off the knob before telling me about it, she says it didn’t help.

WW ... if I understand properly what you are describing, the pain is due to the knob rubbing against the meaty portion of the bottom-hand post impact.

Pretty normal.

Some ball players do the opposite of what your daughter did ... as do I ... that is, they bury the knob of the bat in the bottom-hand.

Yep- that’s it, it think we may experiment with burying knob or hanging a pinky off...

Try a grip n rip lite, or a knob cuff. Used widely in slow pitch, and seeing it more and more in fast pitch. Kinda takes the knob out of play,

Yes ... there are multiple knob-tapering gizmos that resemble the taper often seen on wood bats.

I started wrapping/cupping the knob with my bottom hand (my pinky is below the knob, index finger on the knob) because I got sick of that pain, too.

I've also read some articles that suggest this is actually helps bat speed, though I don't know if this is true.

Thanks all! I might try that knob cuff and regrip over it. I don’t think the pinky hanging over is going to work with the Easton knob- she did it off and on back in the bygone days of the nice little Anderson knobs...
