Yikes! Love how she does a really good job of tapping "explosive," but can imagine how building a load-n-explode sequence would take her to the next level...

I will ask her dad what’s the purpose of the band next time I see him. If I had to take a guess it is probably something to do with preventing ELAE (early lead arm extension).

Even in that drill she is violently sudden.

RDB you posted that you shouldn’t have posted that drill. I’m really glad you did- I am pretty sure I want to try that.

FFS I’ll build you one if you don’t mind running to the Midwest to pick it up and help me figure out how to best use it! My gut tells me you might already have one though, lol

Edited to add- at first when I saw that drill I had a real wth reaction. Now I think it will fit right in with what we are doing.

Westwind ... I don't have such a gadget, but I am genuinely interested.

I think it would be helpful in promoting a good hand-path ... understanding Bonds' cues of the top-hand staying up and being short ... grasping the notion that we 'swing the bat' and 'not the hands' ... basically what some refer to as a diagonal barrel.

I do something similar. I put two tees side by side spaced about a foot apart, with the tee nearest the hitter being higher, and the tee further out having a ball on it ... I tell the kids to pretend that the tee closest to them has mom's champagne glass on it and that they should avoid breaking mom's champagne glass if they know what is good for them.

I meant, I shouldn't have posted at all because soon as some one thinks the source is TM they are negative.
Not sure if you check out Teachermans twitter page.
Here it is:Teacherman1986
Will have to go through the twitter acct for info on building and using one.

Please explain How this is not a bug squish....
I realize that it's a drill focusing on the barrel path and turn, however I see no weight shift, no load, and a back foot simply spinning.

I'll let Rdb explain ... but IMO what you likely saw was no "weight shift" and confused that with a "bug squishing" mechanic.

'Squishing the bug' is spinning the rear foot(cause) to rotate the hips(effect).

I see this hitter's rear leg being the 'driver of this swing. I'm seeing the inner rear thigh being the 'driver' as the hitter turns the barrel.

Again JMHO

Not 'squishing the bug':

'Squish the bug':

Squishing the bug in order to assist in hip turn usually results in turning the back leg instead of actually turning the hips, or finishing the hip turn. I call this a fake hip turn. Squishing may actually hinder a complete hip turn.
