Anyone else using a Blast Motion willing to share some data? 8yo DD has been using it for about a month. I'm curious what others are getting for data. We had a pretty good session tonight hitting off the tee and doing some side toss. Her are her numbers. I have also included the Blast Motion's average range for a few different skill/age ranges. I'm not sure the Blast Factor is useful for comparing to Blast Motion's listed averages as they say my 8 year old is swinging as well as a 16u travel ball player which I don't believe. I primarily use the Blast Factor as one way to track her improvements over time. A month ago her average Blast Factor was 36 and today it was 45.

Bat LXT Hyper 28 in 17 ounce
51 swings tonight

Bat Speed High = 35.2 mph
Bat Speed Low = 30.1 mph
Bat Speed Average = 32.3 mph
Rec Ball = 32 to 46 mph
12u-14u Travel Ball = 38 to 52 mph
16u-18u Travel Ball = 54 to 66 mph

Attack Angle High = 18 degrees
Attack Angle Low = -1 degrees
Attack Angle Average = 8 degrees
Rec Ball = -2 to 14 degrees
12u-14u Travel Ball = -1 to 14 degrees
16u-18u Travel Ball = 0 to 14 degrees

Power High = 0.48kW
Power Low = 0.29 kW
Power Average = 0.39 kW
Rec Ball = 0.6 to 2 kW
12u-14u Travel Ball = 0.8 to 2.2 kW
16u-18u Travel Ball = 2.2 to 3.4 kw

Blast Factor High = 56
Blast Factor Low = 34
Blast Factor Average = 45
Rec Ball = 15 to 35
12u-14u Travel Ball = 25-45
16u-18u Travel Ball = 56-74

Blast factor is a combined scoring metric that is based on power (50%), On Plane (15%), Peak Bat Speed (10%), Attack Angle (10%), and Body Rotation (15%).

DD went to a Jarred Hardin camp the summer before last when she was 13. They used the blast motion deal and it was the first time I had seen it. Her bat speed was upper 50's and blast factor was around 70 if I remember correctly. I don't even remember if they tracked the other measurable at that camp.

Hello. My DD just turned 14 and she uses the Blast Motion. She just started playing first year 16A ball. We used it more when her team was on break in Aug. but now they practice so much it doesn't get used at home as much. Here are her averages from Sept.

Blast Factor Avg. 61, high 72
Power Avg. 1.69 KW, high 2.17 KW
Time to Contact Avg. .16
Attack Angle Avg. 1
Peak Hand Speed Avg. 16.8 mph, high 19.2 mph
Bat Speed Avg. 54.7, High 61 mph

Taking video with the app is my favorite feature so I can watch the swings in slo mo with the metrics overlayed. In regards to DD's metrics, her attach angle could be a bit higher but she is fast so I would rather see ground balls that she has a chance to beat out than balls in the air. We are actually trying to bring to power number down because she has been over swinging this fall. She has Homerunitis after hitting a couple off the fence last year and that's not her game. When she over swings she tends to pull her head, and if she does hit the ball the over rotation causes her to get out of the box slow.

Edit: and she swings a 32/22 CF9

My 12u (11yo) uses it weekly during lessons. We use it to watch her bat speed and her plane. Recently we have been using the metrics to move to a 32/22 bat. With her current bat she averages low of 45 high 50. Time to contact is always .14 or .15 and her plane varies but the average is 7.

Using any kind of electronic to measure a hitter to me is ‘window dressing’. Unless they are game swings. The proof of a ‘good swing’ is results in game and matching HOFs movements/mechanics. imo.

Had a kid measure in the low 80s for bat speed in 18u. Worst batting avg on the team. Not a lot of power either.

Spot on.

Had a kid that could routinely reach 98mph ... ... ... but she wasn't the most consistent of hitters IMO.
