Hi - 12yo daughter has begun to swing the bat much harder in recent weeks and in doing so, she has started getting blisters on her thumbs. What can cause this (how she's holding the bat, holding bat too tightly, etc?) and how do I help her avoid it? Thanks!

Blisters on the the inside of the thumbs, between the big knuckle and the middle knuckle are wear blisters. My experience is that it's usually just a combination of alot of powerful swings, tacky leather grip and sweaty hands that cause the twisting and wearing in that soft spot on the inner thumb just inside of the horseshoe. Those are very tender. A set of batting gloves, some super glue or even a rubber thumb guard can help. Live, she'll probably have to fight through it mind over matter, where the adrenaline should help to get through those per swing "owches". :D

If she's swinging more aggressively at 12's, that's exactly what you want. You won't have to do much with the grip, as she should instinctively adjust that by herself.
