Squishing the bug is hard to get rid of

Yee is not 'squishing the bug'.

I noticed her back heel moving towards the catcher. The more I watch the video, I tend to agree with you that she is not STB. But what about the heel? Would you rather see it more like her practice swing? Been working with DD with block next to her back foot, trying to stop heel going toward catcher but starting to rethink this because of this video.

Also noticed that she shifts her belly button(weight) toward pitcher before she starts forward swing. And that's why she doesn't STB.LOL

In order to prevent from squishing the bug, we really worked on getting off the back foot. Now it has become a little too uncontrolled and aggressive. Anybody know any drills, cues or ideas on how to prevent the back foot from skipping too far forward. Basically it's skipping so far forward that it's causing her to stand taller at contact, :(.

IMO the back foot movement is the result of other things done correctly and should be a no teach. If the rear foot is not moving correctly, something up-stream has a problem. Noticing the rear foot issue could help you to determine the root cause, but working to make the it look right might not solve the original problem and have the nasty side effect of making it harder find.

If you have a clip of the original problem or before/after, it would be interesting to study. You can use vdub to cut the clips down to shoulder height so as to not reveal an identity.

No matter what I do my DD's back foot skips forward too far IMO and her back leg straightens out a little (not completely) which causes her to stand taller at contact. It's very evident on inside pitches. I even asked her to squish the bug, not that I want her doing that, but I am trying to have do one extreme to prevent the other. No luck

A while ago you posted Jen Yee's practice swing vs game swing. I have a few questions and would like your opinion. Is her practice swing optimal when compared to her in game swing? Is she shorter (more hip flex) in her game swings and is that what is causing the back heel to go toward catcher (sorta STB look or appearance? According to RDbass she is not STB. What is your opinion? The reason I am asking these questions is because my DD's swing resembles her (JY) game time swings and I am trying to get her to swing more like her practice swing. Don't want to waste time on "laces to the pitcher, heel to the sky " if it isn't needed. Thank you.

Sounds like she has too much momentum likely caused by no core rotation. Basically she doesn't turn efficiently. Just a guess without seeing a swing.

Edit: I should have said resistance so the core rotates properly (efficiently). Not 'no core rotation'. My apologies.

The back foot looks like it pops a little in this swing. The hips and leverage off the backside combined with the blocking of the front leg, creates a popping action of the hips as you arch the lowerback thrusting the hips into the swing.

Most back foot dragging in youth hitters is a weight shift issue, shifting the weight first and then swinging. Compared to Jen who is swinging/shifting.

With all due respect, I ask 3 questions and not 1 has been addressed
