At my DD's last practice coach had them working on fake bunting, pull back and swing away. My DD's swing was so much better, more bat speed and power generated. I was wondering if she using her hips better or something. Maybe it corrected something in her sequence helping her load better.. not sure. Thoughts? Any of you experienced this before?

It forces a fluid load sometimes rather than a static load. Some girls it helps, others it just throws off their timing. But I have seen what you described with several girls form time to time and will call a "slash" sometimes to try and break a girl out of a slump on occasion.

DD can be a statue at plate.

My guess is she has movement and gets where she needs to be, just the movement is helpping her.

We've tried this with DD after seeing quite a few college players use the technique, but it's too much movement for her and it disrupts timing. But there is a girl on our team who uses the technique quite well to basically force a load. So everyone is different.

My DD liked hitting that way. The only issue that it would sometime cause if that occasionally she wouldn't get all the way back which would cause her to pull off the ball. It was a simple verbal and she would correct. If I was coaching I would warn the 1B that she was not going to bunt (DD is lefty). I didn't want to get anyone hurt. One time someone didn't believe me and a line drive went about 2 feet right over her head and rolled so far she was in Dugout when RF picked it up.

This...

I have used "reversed" moves a long time with beginners and especially those that lock up their front side. The young man in the high knee lift thread would benefit from it. :)

It not only forces a more fluid load, it activates the muscle sequence for loading...in a more useful way.

Added: and yes that is usually hips and core.

Spot on. For some girls it is a way to trick them into using a proper sequence.

=Band-aide...

It wasn't a band-aide.. the coach was genuinely working on this with the team not with the intention to improve swing mechanics. I observed that my DD's swing seemed to generate more bat speed and there was better sequence

Figure out what's missing.

Thanks
