Would it be safe to say that tilting/lateral bending is good with Correa's posture and not so good with the girls posture?

On the right the core is in a position where the main engine can be a big part of launching the swing ... not so much on the left.

Not to hijack my own thread but I know you keep your inbox full on purpose, FFS. Do you have any open focus drills that you recommend?

Also- to everyone else commenting and following in this thread, keep chiming in and/or arguing. I glean a lot of good stuff from all of you.

Little update from the weekend. She guest played with a team and I stuck her 29/18 CF8 back in her hands. She drove in the tying run with a double to CF and scored the winning run to avoid elimination and then in the following game she hit a walk off blast to CF with bases loaded and 2 outs. Maybe dad was just in too big of a hurry to get her into a -10. I wasn't able to get any video but she's going to swing it this weekend at State so I'll try there.

The task of a hitter’s eye movement is to keep the oncoming baseball/softball on the fovea … the center area of the eye that provides the sharpest vision.

The fovea is a small dimple in the middle of the retina. It is the center of the eye’s sharpest vision and the location of the most color perception. Since the fovea provides the sharpest and most detailed information, the eyeball is continuously moving, so that light from the object of primary interest falls on this region.

Instruction in-line with this is to have the hitter draw an imaginary line from their nose straight out. That becomes the hitter’s visual bull’s-eye. The notion being to keep the baseball on the fovea.

This does not mean that hitters should have a hard focus on the ball. That is not the job of tracking the ball. The job is to keep the fovea on the ball.

Good rhythm can help lead to a relaxed open focus level on the pitcher. On the other hand a rigid setup can lead to a hard visual steer.

Let the eyes lead the hands to the target. Breath with ease and rhythm. Try to see the movement, without physically looking at the movement. Trust the eyes and expand their visual field when searching for moving objects.

If my DD I wouldn't change a thing....well.....maybe just the 'launch angle'. But, other than that I would just keep studying/learning the swing(dad/mom).

Does she have flaws? Sure, she's nine. I also think if she sticks with it she's going to be a VERY good hitter. She does some really athletic things.

I think she looks pretty good for a 9u.

I think her stance is too wide to start with, and then she steps forward even more, which is causing her back foot to slide(drag) forward during the swing. If you want to change something, I would start with a narrower stance at starting position. IMOHO.

Let me put it this way. I coach a 10u team and she seems like a little one, who I would not hesitate to put in the line up. Swing is very good for her age. I think she could get her hips a little more involved to help her power through the zone. But overall she is doing work.
