She doesn't slide the rear foot nearly as early as the clip by the op. It tends to come off the ground or slide a little right before if not at contact. Some other people have pointed it out to me and I just said I wan't worried about it right now, she's been killing it at our last 3 tournaments and at practice. As inconsistent as she has been in the past and using the advice I received on here over the winter, I'm just giving her a ton of bp and leaving her alone as long as what she's doing is working for now.

That's when Correa's rear foot is moving (and may as well be off the ground). Right before, or at, contact is when the component of force downward (weight, really) through the rear leg should be at it's smallest so I don't see how it hurts much. I understand the physics of it, for the most part. What I have trouble with is understanding the physiology and biometrics that most efficiently put those physics to work, and even more so- how to best teach it to my DD.

Video DD's swing and put it side by side to HL softball players and let the 'Hanson principle' be your guide.

Is the back foot sliding that big of a deal? My dd tends to either slide her back foot a little or it comes up like in the clip rdbass posted above. Not that she's comparable to the Babe ;)

It depends. Most youth hitters have a weight shift problem with the rear foot sliding forward. In "most" elite swings the back foot might slide a little, but not much. I don't think you set out to drag the foot with anyone. I've never heard any coach say that dragging the back foot is a goal on every swing.

Not what any one has said or posted. Back foot isn't a 'teach' until it's a 'teach'. Only video with determine that.

Differences of posture at the launch position. Correa has an attack posture, head forward over the front hip and the shoulders angle downwards.

Would you say that the video you posted is typical of her game swing? I just ask because I find my DD also suffers from some of the same issues your DD does during BP. My DD typically has a lot of forward momentum during BP which causes her to drift forward after heel plant and will shift then swing a lot of the times during BP. I find in game at bats the momentum is much less. I prefer my DD game swing over her BP swing. All in all I have to agree with RBD, I do not think I would mess with her very much if at all. I feel that most of her problems will work themselves out over time. If I were to work on anything it would be trying to get her to get the hands moving forward while turning the barrel JMHO.
