Inconsistent squaring.

The objective of a hitter should not be to get on plane early, but to trust that their release (within a proper swing sequence) will square the ball.

Also sometimes excessive hooking and rolling over (foul pulled grounders). I rarely use bat throws but I have used it with a kid that had the bat literally going right to left through the hitting zone. The throwing leads to a more centered swing direction through the zone. Matching the plane is not just vertical (attack angle) but also horizontal, I,e direction through the zone. Now the bat path never will and should be linear but after contact it should be more like an elongated ellipse rather than a circle. Tight turn to contact and then a little more linear through the follow through rather than quickly rolling to the other shoulder. The throw can make you feel that little straighter follow through direction.

DD goes through little stretches of what I call dragging the bat through the zone. Sounds similar. Lack of gap to gap squaring etc. oppo flares. I wish I knew what brings it on, it shows up every 8-10 months for shorter and shorter periods of time. It popped up at a camp last week but fortunately the coaches know her pretty well, saw it and talked to her about it. We had one session to work on it before a weekend tournament and she is back to normal as of yesterday.
