We've really just been working on sequencing so far and off a tee and with side and easy front toss she'll get her hands back during her stride but whenever she faces live pitching she never really gets her hands back (and sometimes starts moving her hands forward during her stride). Any suggestions for drills? We try the Babe Ruth swings but she'll break down once I start throwing with any speed and try to swing from wherever she starts her hands.

Anything else you can tell me to work on would be great as well. Thanks.

She needs to start feeling that the swing is a tip-and-turn around the hands rather than an arm sweep through the zone. It's counter-intuitive to some extent -- it seems like it would make sense to flatten and try to hit the ball -- so she needs to start feeling the difference. It also would good to show video of her swing side by side with barrel-turn-swingers. There are many good threads about the DBSF -- drop barrel swing flat -- swing style your DD currently has. Do a search for them. Good luck :)

She doesn't start any movement until the ball is almost halfway home. She has no time to get any separation..She needs to start her pre-launch movement when the pitcher is in her windup (typically when arm is around 12 O'clock)

As others have said, there is no rhythm, no preparing to swing and then swinging. I have no stride hitters on video, Nomar, Pujols, that have more rythym.

Jim Dixon said that it takes longer for a elite hitter to swing. Meaning there is a preparation to swing.

There are glaring timing issues, so your going to have problems with separation.

Left gif is pre-launch movement/gather. Baseball but same idea.

When you are throwing her front toss pay attention to when she starts
moving. If you are just throwing straight underhand (e.g. not windmill)
she should be preparing to hit when your hand is going back. If this is
her first time hitting off of windmill it will take some time to get her
movements started at the right time but she should be able to get
it down pretty quick with straight front toss.

Her hands are already 'back'. There is no 'stride'.

I can almost guarantee she will swing to early once you introduce a timing/rhythm mechanism. You have to practice the rhythm/timing mechanism.
