I get your point, but if it was there and then it is gone by whatever means then by definition you got rid of it ;)

My DD originally had a case of DBSF which resembles the OPs DD. She now instead flattens before launch to the point where the bat almost touches her shoulder,
along with wrapping it such that the end of the bat is almost pointing
towards third base coach, and then tries to launch from there. Perhaps not a typical DBSF hand path anymore, but one that still results in the SF part of the DBSF.
If I make her conscience of it during tee work she can get it such that her hand path is much better. However throw a moving ball at her and forget about it.
Part of it is certainly improper sequencing and core usage. However part of it is her just letting her barrel free-fall during her read of the pitch.

For me personally, I consider DBSF a hand path issue ... and I simply teach/promote hand path.

If the barrel is in a free-fall during the "reading of the pitch", then the chances are good that you are not having your hitter load their core appropriately ... there is a related thread on that topic in the technical area ... give it a read.

I am big into promoting a particular hand path. I consider it the fourth most important aspect of the swing to be mastered. For a down-the-middle pitch I want to have the rear arm passing through an upright-vee at the RVP/Connection/Power-Vee/Swearing-in/Explosion-Point position. Almost immediately upon the first-engine moving the barrel, I want the hands/forearms to work/orbit/arc/torque the handle with the notion that the torqueing action will have the rear arm passing through an upcoming upright-vee.

One simplistic way to think of the swing is to send the barrel around the rear forearm and release it.

She certainly doesn't use her core to the best of her ability (along with a myriad of other issues imo), no arguments there. I don't want to pollute this thread any further with stuff about my DD. We can take it to my DD's thread ( https://www.discussfastpitch.com/sof...ng-issues.html) if we want to further discuss.

Is there a glossary for these terms? I tried looking them all up but I'm at a loss. Do you have a link for a Dad who surely learned a lot of wrong things to do during his playing days?

Right now we're just working on timing but if you have something to work on concurrently that won't overwhelm either of us that would be great.

Thanks.
