What's the best drills for power and contact? Forget diagnosing swings and the technical aspects. Please don't ask me to post a video of my DD, or post swings of MLB players. All I want is to get the bat in my DD's hands and let her swing without thinking too much. With that being said, what are the best drills for bat speed and contact?

Hands drills. Search educated hands. That's as simple as it gets IMO. Once your hitter learns that. The rest will come quicker and naturally. Part of the problem on these boards is there are a lot of different theories. A lot of different lingo. And a ton of different people diagnosing. They can often say the same thing but in different ways. Once you subscribe to a certain theory. Be all in. Or you will have a bigger problem than what you started with. I personally subscribe to a hands approach meaning : the eyes/hands dictate the swing, they tell the body what to do. I understand not wanting a diagnosis on your players swing. A lot of comments by people get lost in translation. Or are not complete , saying what the problem is but don't give a FULL description of how to fix it. If you like a certain posters thoughts. PMs can get you going better than taking everyone's opinion. This is what I have learned being a member here.
There is a lot of knowledge here on these boards. You just gotta find out which way you want to go .

As far as your your drills question, you will once again get mixed diagnosis. IMO power and bat speed drills are relative to the theory you subscribe too. Hopefully I made sense to you and cut your search time to your answer in half.
As far as batspeed and power to me is going to depend on how athletic your player is and how much work your player puts in.There are no short cuts. I wouldn't search for power I would search for adjustability and consistent hard contact.Power will come with work IMO.I would beware of theories that promise power. Been there... it reminds me of a diet fad that promises weight loss forever. 6 months later your back too your not so thin self. I'm rambling... good luck!

I used to yell at DD alot during any drills to make her mad. Then she hits the snot out of the ball. Now she laughs at me, and still hits the snot out of the ball.

Front toss with one instruction..."hit the ball as hard as you can".

Good luck.

Have her do self toss with a goal of hitting fly balls to the outfield. Give her a bucket of balls and you go stand in the outfield with a glove. Ask her to hit it over your head. Then gradually move back as she starts doing it.

Good question .... what drills can you perform while remaining ignorant of technical aspects?

Honestly, most drills do not 100% duplicate the swing. Often only a segment of a drill applies wrt the final swing you may be after ..... meaning that there will be segments of the drill that do not apply to what you may be after. It is why doing drills blindly (lacking an understanding of technical aspects) can result in making hitters worse.

Some folks ask for drills as if they had a patient that was sick and they wish to give them a pill. Not an approach I personally advocate.

All that said ... here are some words from Ted William's on a drill he liked.

If you have the opportunity to have your DD hit on a field do that as often as you can. Second best would be a cage outside. Obviously
indoor cages are fine too but sometimes making seemingly little things like sound, background, lighting and ball flight more realistic can help. Make sure you have an L-screen :D

DD went to a camp a few years ago put on by Coach Glasco. He had a very basic drill that she has gotten a lot of use on. Three simple instructions....sit, coil, explode. Works great with a tee or even just swinging a bat in the back yard.
