Looked like an adjustment to a slightly slower than expected pitch, I thought it was good -- much better than being out ahead and grounding out to short :)

I'm pretty sure her intent was to make sure she was able to be on time for a fast pitch, more so than a delay for a slower than expected pitch. I've seen her use that before, but not very often. Usually, when she feels like she needs more quickness, she chokes up. I'm not sure why she chose to do it this particular time, but it worked.

Style things like pre-launch hand/bat movement to me have to occur organically. Telling somebody, especially a developing hitter, to do them is going to cause the problems you mentioned. One day she might just start doing it and she may not even know she is doing it....

The experiments were all her own. I saw some issues developing, but she didn't want to listen to my suggestions on how a different type of movement might work out better. She has since gone back to a quieter start, and re-found her groove at the plate.

What was her intention with that particular experiment?

She was trying to get some pre-launch barrel action, but it was being done with a floppy arm movement that was making a mess of things.

Right, that much I got :D. I was wondering what she thought that was going to do for her?
