My daughter took summer and fall off for other sports and we've been working on pitching a bit more. I was hoping the casting, racing rear elbow and balance issues would resolve with the time off, but they're back with a vengeance. Let me know what you guys think and maybe some drills to help her out. Thanks in advance.

My guess is you might not see a bunch of comments because you are going to simply have to start from the beginning. Below are a couple videos to get you started you simply have to teach her the proper sequence honestly results should come quickly as she learns the proper sequence.

Also please DO NOT throw the ball to her with an arc like that it is negative learning if you can't throw a real pitch get closer and behind a screen and throw a harder flatter pitch this is not slow pitch...sorry to seem harsh but sometimes tough love is required

Just about everyone agrees with and likes this video

I like this one but there a few points that could probably be explained better or are not exactly on point but if you swung like this you would be well on your way to a good swing and it goes over getting set which I like...although you can use whatever cue you want the concept is sound have a consistent repeatable way you approach every pitch.

Thanks, I've had a hard time finding a decent hitting coach. That isn't me throwing to her. I usually pitch pretty fast. Thanks for the videos. You're right - we're starting from the beginning.

I don't think you need a hitting coach to get started. You should be able to get to the basic sequence after a month or so or at least close enough to where constructive critiques can be given without just saying start over.. Get set, load, coil and put front foot down while hands are back (getting stretch, load scap, insert whatever phase) creating good separation and get to this position as the ball is on its way...not before the pitch is thrown like your DD video; believe it or not at this point the ball is probably half way to the plate and they have not even started their forward portion of the swing (it happens that fast no matter what age)

Not wanting to completely derail your thread I'll post a good sequence pic so you can see the rest. Unlike pitching hitting devolves quickly into a food fight over exactly whats going and how to correctly label things but start from the ground up with pressure on back foot to begin hip going forward then the elbow slots, hands forward directly to ball as your turn the barrel, slight tilt with shoulders, keeping hand above the ball and then whipping everything forward through the ball...and pray since this is the practical thread and not the technical thread my primitive and basic description of a swing (not technical) is not laid to the ash heap of history. A lot of this stuff once basically explained and done a few times will be natural and not need instruction. Right now it seems you DD was taught swing flat which is a cue you will need to unteach quickly look at the pitch Lauren is hitting you simply adjust your bat angle hands stay above the ball not level with.
