My DD has been working hard on refining her swing and I feel that it is time to start putting some stress on it to see if it will hold up. I am asking for suggestions/ideas on how I can put more stress on her sequence while taking BP. I do not have access to pitching machines and I am also very limited on my underhand pitching abilities. Does anyone throw overhand to their DD!

When I get the yips I will sit on a bucket at full distance and overhand skip them to her. Better control and way better speed. I keep telling myself I am going to learn to pitch......

Do you have a screen? Because I would just move closer, and continue to use the “bowling” style of pitching - if you’re implying adding stress = adding speed.

You don’t have to throw harder, but she will need to improve her reaction time.

Something I picked up from my DD's hitting coach... Instead of underhand toss from a fairly static stance, she take two steps as she throws. DD likes it because even though it's not a windmill motion, the steps help simulate the timing sequence.

When we want to stress our batters, we stopped being nice about it....

- There is no 'ending on a good one' - you don't get a do over in a game. Last ball of the session and it needs to be good. If it is not, you have to wait until tomorrow.
- Rewards. We do this every other bucket when doing a BP session... we do this as a positive/negative system. Good swings and leaves on bad pitches = +1, Bad swings/swings at bad pitches -2. Score # of Pushups if you are negative.
- Right/Middle/Left... Aim to hit to each field and you don't move to the next field to hit until you have successfully hit your target. Continue hitting until you have completed the sequence twice

You can come up with lots of variations.

Of course some days you just go out and hit some balls

Here's a link to a hitting game I invented a while back that has been pretty successful in simulating a real hitting environment. I do it from a front toss position. In addition to the physical side, it's important to play on the mental side by hurling insults and suggesting the hitter is going to lose if she misses this pitch. Anything to get in her head and force her to overcome adversity.

Throwing overhand is fine IMO.

I have worked for 2 batters for years, 1 is DD.

DD will hit ball right of 2nd base 90% of time, I do not think other hitter has hit ball right of 2nd base.

Practice DD can hit it anywhere at will, games it is going to right side of field.

That is pretty much all the stress I put on them, you need to hit it in this area.

In a team setting. Which group gets the most hits with an exercise for the losers. Lightening round- get a hit and you swing again. Both can be done with shag group catches and errors.

Individual- 20 pitches and you must get 10 hits or exercise. Same with hit it where it's pitched. Ect.
