If you can find a sporting goods store with an indoor batting cage go and try them out. I was surprised at how different the bats hit. Every bat we tried out was a great bat but she swung some better than others.
I often agree with this. However, the correct size arrow for the Indian is still an important consideration. A different arrow of the same size and general quality, not so much.
Handle size and balance of the bat makes a big difference for a young person. Again when you can see a noticeable difference in speed it makes a difference. IMO.
