A's just a novice here but I really like the way she turns the barrel very very impressive for her age. She needs some work on her lower half but she is way ahead of the game with her upper IMO..... especially if she can manage this while being pitched to. She will have a bright future ahead of her if she keeps this up. As I implied earlier she needs some work on the lower half/bottom of the upper area.... I sure you will get plenty of advice from more experienced posters but O say great job so far.

Thanks, we're trying right now to get reps off the tee and with soft toss without learning bad habits that we'll have to fix later. I will definitely review lower half mechanics

Very good for 9 years old. I would assume she is very athletic. May need to calm down her movement but looks good.

My daughter has been working hard on her swing. While I think she is on the right path I was looking for any advice on where to focus. Thanks in advance.

Dude!!

Delete this thread. Delete your DFP account. Tell your DD to "nod and say okay" to coaches when they tell her she needs to swing down or whatever b.s. they tell her.

She is special. Better than 99.9% of the swings posted on hitting forums. Don't change a thing, let the kid play and develop. I LOVE her swing!

I was going to say that she had to much head movement from what i saw at first when i watch the video at full speed. Then I slowed the video down and all her head movement was after contact (I would have been completely wrong). Her head actually stays pretty darn still for swing that is that violent. Your daughter has a great swing, at contact her knee, hip, and head are lined perfectly. Her rear leg drive looks very good, and she his hitting against a firm front side. I also really like the high finish.

Keep on doing what you are doing. If you are the one teaching her that swing I would just keep on the same track you are already on. Actually you should probably be giving most of us advice.

That follow through looks painful, the way the head tilts and the back bends. It just looks like one wrong move and something is going to snap.

Not a bad over all swing for 9.

I think the head dip may have to do with the tee. I'll try weather permitting to get a video of some softtoss tonight and see if it's still there.

Want to thank everyone for their comments and input.

There is actually a lot going right here; especially for such a young age...not seeing alot of the typical issues.

While I am always a stride is style guy her stride is simply too long...I know others will argue and yes a few MLB elite level swing have long stride but they also have lots of muscle to compensate with.

IMO with a stride that long she can't coil effectively...what is impressive is that she does stay back and is not starting her swing early even though she is striding so far she is waiting to launch the swing until her front foot lands.

It would be interesting to see a BP swing where she has to run to 1B before making any adjustments (plus I'm wondering if she is this aggressive with the ball coming at her; hopefully she is)...the reason is because being so off balance after her swing she would stumble in the box and never beat out a ball in the infield even if it was bobbled. Also maybe her stride is so long because of tee placement.

I would say that shortening her stride a little will help everything both effective coiling and post swing follow through since she will be more upright and balanced....my two cents
