At "9" I would not change a thing with this hitter's mechanics. Allow her to develop and have fun with it. The only thing that I would change is the position of the tee. I would prefer to see the tee set deeper. How does she do in games against live pitching?

I'll try moving the tee deeper, I'm all for shortening her stride too. As far as game pitching she makes contact but not a lot of power as of yet. We've only really been working on hitting for about 2 months. So I do still see quite a bit of regression at times. BP before game will look good then in the game she doesn't stride her first at bat.

In my opinion, the bold is common. Especially at the younger ages (but not limited to the younger ages). While I think using a tee is perfectly fine, hitting a moving target is somewhat different. I prefer to focus on front toss as much as possible. But honestly, at 9 years old, I really wouldn't mess with anything at this point. Allow her to develop at her own pace and watch her development closely. She has a very good base to work with.

This is kind of what I was hinting at. She has to stay this aggressive when the ball is coming at her and also keep her mechanics the same. At nine especially if she faces a fast but maybe little wild pitcher girls that look really aggressive with the ball on a tee step out or don't swing at all or swing at anything eyes closed etc.; they just become completely different in the box. Anyway keep up the work and progressive from this tee swing to front toss and then BP hopefully without a change in form.

So THAT's what they mean when they say Lateral Tilt... :D

Curious if you used any particular website or drills to teach her that swing? (looks like it may incorporate some concepts from Baseball Rebellion, with the long extension / follow-through).

She needs some work on her lower half...

IMO with a stride that long she can't coil effectively...what is impressive is that she does stay back and is not starting her swing early even though she is striding so far she is waiting to launch the swing until her front foot lands.

Question for you guys. I think I see an explosive hip/ leg coil. Weight back, but the foot's not weighted dead, big leg / foot snap. Am I seeing this incorrectly? Not a loaded question or baiting anyone. It's something I want to understand.

I'm not seeing it. The explosiveness comes from holding back while taking big stride then letting lose, but it's not as effective coiling around rear leg IMO. Maybe other see a more effective coil and can jump in.

I agree. To long of a stride. Long step with the front leg(I see it as the front leg being in-charge of the swing). A big Shift THEN swing. Strides with the front leg locked out. I would just shorten up the stride leg and see how DD's swing looks.
That all being said hitters is 9 years old and looks pretty good on this one tee swing. JMHO.

At first viewing I thought that she really wasn't getting much coil but after watching it frame by frame on Youtube I am second guessing myself. I am not sure if anyone else watched the video frame by frame but it may indicate why her head and back are acting the way they are. If my understanding of "out from" is correct she may be a good candidate for it and would probably stop the head action. All in all though I am very impressed with this 9 year old's swing.
