JMHO. I don't see this hitter turning the barrel with her hand[/B] but, with her rear elbow. Because of the that, the swing ends with a push into the ball. Rear elbow needs to 'get through' which it's not and is glued to the rotation of the body around.

That's quite possible. I will work on that. We have two weeks before our grand championships. I don't know if a quick fix exists that can be implemented within this time frame to improve hitting the ball on the meat of the bat Like I said it's not a timing thing, it just seems like she thinks her bat is 2 feet long... I don't know, can't really explain

Julray,

The lead arm seems to be straightening during the swing. If you start with a bent lead arm the arm should remain close to the starting position. Instead I think the lead arm straightening is creating slop in the swing forcing the top hand to make up the difference. So we have a pushing problem that is creating the lead arm to break down.

Not quite ... a lengthening of the lead arm is fine ... the slop in the swing comes in part because of the slack hasn't been taken out through to the bottom hand ... and that is important ... hence the slop that you likely see.

I guess the slack is what's causing her to be hitting the ball off the handle. Question, should we see the front elbow work upward more towards the mouth/eyes instead of wrapped around the body? I know this will improve extension and keep the barrel in the zone much longer.

IMO she's casting her hands prior to contact, then pulling her hands in as she makes contact to try and compensate and make room, she then rolls over early and does not extend through contact.

This is a typical swing for young players that normally cast their hands but have begun to receive instruction to keep their hands in. It takes time for them to master the concept of hands in early in the swing and extend through contact. $.02

Kinda in line with my first thoughts on casting...the swing looks like it has that feel "out and around"

1) youre going to "cast" when you're out of sequence - she's out of sequence. 2) loads her hands early, so they leave the starting block early and they roll over early. if you pretend there is a pane of glass that is bisecting her body vertically - her hands should stay on the right side of that piece of glass into contact 3) I like to tell (ALL two) of my hitters, you want to feel like you are working under your hands when you are whipping the barrel, I just see her pulling the barrel down into the ball - this most likely stems from not knowing how to continue to stretch on top of her coil beforehand. Still in the stage of take my hands back and pull them forward

Hi everyone, thanks for responding. If I could convince her to take a step/stride it would be so much easier for me to help her with her sequence. I'm having so much difficulty trying to get the sequence right with a no stride type swing, I even tried it and it seems so unnatural, really hard to get separation. It's so easy for me to stride and walk my hands away from my front side simultaneously. She is being so pigheaded about sticking the no stride, very frustrating.

On a side note, any idea why her head tilts so much during her swing... this has to cause some issues seeing the ball....
