DD hits well... consistent... top two or three on her team.

All without using her lower half. Just doesn't produce the power you'd think for someone her size (14 yr old)... any suggestions?

I find that hard to believe.

Why and how would be my question.
Like others have said, you need to post video or not but, I'm not going to guess.

I find that hard to believe.

I have seen some strange hitting mechanics that have been surprisingly successful. A former 10U rec teammate of my DD has a swing that has almost zero rotation of the hips and lower torso. She literally just yanks the bat across her chest with her (very strong) arms and shoulders. Somehow she has managed to be a consistent hitter in 12U and 14U TB. Her very good speed is certainly a help to her BA, but she gets a lot of solid line drives to the OF. I certainly expect her to come to the point where her mechanics can't compete, but I expected that to happen a long time ago. it's certainly not something I would teach a young hitter.

Sorry, when I read this I can't help think of it as being the tallest midget in the circus. Also, then why change if a hitter is hitting well...consistently. I know why,I guess my question should have been then why include this information.

Back on the dirt...
I'm going to add : bad pitching allows players to have good stats. Not good mechanics. But good stats.

We have a player that hits 3,4,5 But when we see good pitching, she is .300 maybe. No adjustability and usually late. DBSF

Someone that "consistently" "hits well", and is in the "top two or three" on their team, should be happy.

Congratulations!

Sounds like you are looking for more power. At the same time your DD isn't using her lower half.

You ask for suggestions. One quick suggestion would be to have your daughter use her lower half. Post some video and folks may chime in to help with that goal.

I'm no hitting expert by an means, and without seeing any swings on video, the only suggestions that I would have for you are: Tee work with the stork drill, and tee work with happy gillmore drill. Good luck.

Of course everyone is correct. You have to post video and if her swing at a ball moving to her is different than her tee swing don't bother with the tee video.

One thought to get you started. Does she throw hard and accurate with good mechanics overhand? If she does have her "feel" how her lower half works on her throw. Then have her throw but eliminate the use of the lower half (Keep the feet planted and hips not rotated or engaged). When she "feels" the comparison and contrast have her apply it to her hitting.
