Worst MLB all star swing of all time. Mike Piazza.

Just pointing out that sometimes whatever works for you, works for you.

EDIT - NOT TRYING TO START ANY FIGHTS. Just frustrated by coaches who think if you don't have a certain form you are not worthy...

What about his swing makes it bad, or as you put it, "worst MLB all star swing of all time"....? Looks to me like he is
doing all of the things which are discussed here regarding a high level swing. Yes his finish looks a bit awkward but for the most
part the swing is done by that point. How people get to the basic aspects of a good swing is a style thing..e.g. initial handset, stance, tip or no tip, hitch or no hitch, stride vs. no stride, etc. If you are referring to coaches who try to impress on a hitter those style aspects then yes that is bad I agree. If a coach or instructor is doing that I would walk away quickly if I were you.

I would rewatch some of those Piazza swings. Piazza has a high level swing......

Not worthy? Not at all... But if you want to give you DD or players their best chance to reach their ceiling why not have them emulate the pattern of the greats?

Piazza ... a good example of what the top-hand/wrist swivel really is ....

"One size fits all" does not work well for hitting or pitching...and I am leery of coaches who try to make every player on their team clones of one another.

I don't think many on this site think in terms of "cookie cutter swings." They think in terms of "absolutes." Style, to be sure, is specific to the player. Anyone who has read this site for any period of time knows my dd was attacked by some for her horrible swing. She did just fine and some of your dds will do the same. Still, that doesn't change the goal which is to try to do the best you can do for your dd and help her create a high level swing. As most know, I used Pujols' swing as my dd's goal. She never matched it but, at times, seemed real close. It was a goal that, for her, was fun but more than that, it helped her focus on some aspects of her swing that she knew she needed to improve upon. If you don't have these high expectations for your dd though your dd might not achieve these goals, you are selling your dd short. JMHO!
