I would agree that the front leg catches and keeps you from falling down.
For many hitters that description is all that is needed.
The actual function goes well beyond that.

I want to thank everyone for the help, we just returned from OKC and I apologize for not responding until today. I purposely did not place this in the technical forum because I struggle to understand and visualize what is being explained. I sometimes feel like I am slow when I am trying to read through the comments, haha. I like the video clips - those help for sure and Eric I will definitely take your advice and hold her back shoulder so she can feel the tension. I want her to get the right sequence and I know she wants more power in her swing - she is a strong girl and overall she has always been told she has a good swing, however, she is not satisfied with just good/fine. We will continue to work and I hope to post some more swings as she will be playing a lot these next 2 months.
I understand there is no "magic drill" of course any type of "drill" would be great but I will just keep reading and working with her and hope she starts to get some better timing as we continue to work. Thanks to all!!
There's some stuff in here that may be helpful in getting her weight distribution and sequence headed in a better direction...
