I will say in baseball reading the spin was very important in getting the body in position to whip the barrel.. Recognizing curve ball spin is what allows one to sit longer for off-speed... The hardest pitch to hit in baseball IMO is the change up due to spin matching the fastball.

Recognizing the trajectory of a curve ball does not require recognizing the spin of the ball ... and if anything, it impedes the ability to accurately recognize the ball's trajectory.

May be different for fastpitch, but baseball hitters read the spin on the ball.. Why would you want to ignore it? Reading the spin is what allows a hitter to know the speed of the pitch.

You ignore to enhance prediction of trajectory and speed. A relaxed open focus beats a tight focus. Bluedog has written on this at BBD and elsewhere ... he was spot on ... give him a shout.

I used it to to enhance prediction of trajectory and speed.

I believed that at one time ... but learned a while back that it actually retards one's ability to see the ball's trajectory.

Hit up Blue ... he's had this information for about two decades now ... maybe longer.
